Since 2006, I have been a college professor, teaching my students about the world in which they live.  Many of the most rewarding interactions I have had relate to my interacting with people outside of the university.  Now, through For the Birds and the Bees Ecological Consulting, I am able to spend more time expanding the range and diversity of people with whom I work.

In the Charlotte area, I have taught courses, given seminars, and led workshops for:

  • UNC-Charlotte, Certificate Program in Native Plant Studies
  • Central Carolinas Master Naturalist Program
  • Mecklenburg County Extension Master Gardeners Program
  • Habitat and Wildlife Keepers (HAWK) Habitat Stewards
  • Wing Haven Gardens
  • Audubon Society
  • Southern Spring Home and Garden Show
  • Central Academy of Technology and Arts
  • Project Scientist Academy
  • City of Charlotte Landscaping Team
  • Shepherd Center of Charlotte
  • Piedmont Airlines Retiree Association
  • Several local garden clubs

Additionally, I have given technical presentations to professional organizations such as the Ecological Society of America, the American Mammalogical Society, the Association of Southeastern Biologists, and the North Carolina Academy of Sciences.
