Constructive Plant Rescue (CPR)

You can provide information about a soon-to-be-cleared site to allow an experienced plant rescuer to extract plants for rehoming.
We will visit the site, select appropriate plants, and dig them up in a way that will maximize their potential for surviving the transplant process. We will then ensure that the plants find new homes.

Some Trillium do not flower until they are at least 7 years old!

This is one of many dozens of species frequently rescued by CPR.

If there is land to be cleared and there are native plants present, we can help those plants  find new homes elsewhere.

Why would this be something worthwhile?

More and more land is being developed to provide homes, offices, and other facilities people need.  As we develop more spaces, the area available to native plants and wildlife is shrinking.

By restoring patches of native vegetation where possible, we can help protect biodiversity and ecosystem services.  Plants "rescued" from areas slated for development can be re-homed elsewhere to live out their lives contributing to biodiversity in their new locations.

Native plants grow slowly from seed.  Many native plants must be several years old before they will flower and set seed. If mature plants are in an area slated for development, those plants could be dug up and moved from the area to be developed to a suitable area where they will be able to continue their lives, providing beauty and sustenance for the food web in their new location.

Would you like to be part of the CPR team?  Whatever your skill set, we could use your help!  Contact info@constructiveplantrescue.org for more information.
